Specialized CCW Training Program
First Class Scheduled March 27 &
28, 2009
Here is
a brand new pilot program offered by your VSSA. Now you can turn that “static”
range time into more practical real life scenarios that you could possibility
have to experience when you least expect it.
This
intense 12 hour course will be conducted by working class professionals from USFortifications, Inc., led by Chief Instructor Steve Reuss and will consist of both formal classroom training
and a full day of live fire on a private range located in Orange County, VA.
The
Friday evening session is designed to make you familiar with both your personal
responsibilities as a CCW holder, and introduce you to some unique methods to
controlling and maintaining possession of your firearm in various encounters. Real CCP rules, Gunbatics, Rentention Stress Course, Cover v. Concealment, Vehicle
Dynamics, Working your Gear, Protecting Others in an
Adverse Situation. Approx three hours will be spent in the
“classroom.”
Saturday’s
session will consist of live fire under simulated but realistic situations that
you may find yourself in. These are designed to prepare you with a basic
knowledge and basic skill to survive. We’re not trying to tell you that after
the end of the day you’ll be on the same level as “24” character Jack Bauer,
for that you would need years of specialized training.
It is hoped that this program will at least be able to provide you with the
initial thought sequence for survival of a situation.
This is
a unisex program taught in what ever weather conditions there will be during
the day of live fire training. Real life situations don’t just wait for fair
skies, low humidity and comfortable temperatures. In addition to paying
attention to the projected weekend forecast for zip code 22960 there are a few
other things that you will need to be prepared for this training weekend.
You
will need to bring with you the firearm that you intend to use as your personal
CCW under most, if not all, conditions. You will need to have the holster or other
method that you will most likely be using to carry your firearm in everyday
environments. i.e., ladies if you intend to carry your firearm in a purse, then
you will need to train with a purse!
You
will need to have extra magazine carriers for the ammo that your firearm will
use. Most important will be the amount of ammo that you will need to have with
you for this program, at least 500 rounds in the caliber of the firearm that
you expect to use as a CCW holder.
Registration for this program in very limited. Only twelve (12) individuals will
be allowed per weekend session. Training will be mostly on a one on one basis,
thus the reason for limited classes. The fee for this training session, Friday
and Saturday, will be $250 per person. Contact the VSSA office no later than March 24, 2009, by
calling 540-672-5848 Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM, to reserve your
place in the class. The first weekend session is scheduled for March 27 and 28,
2009. If less than 12 reservations are received, the training will have to be
rescheduled to a later date.
The
Friday evening classroom session will begin at 7 PM and will be held at the
Holiday Inn Express,
